SIR Keir Starmer says questions need to be answered over the failure to protect murdered ten-year-old Sara Sharif.
The Prime Minister has also described it her death by her hands father and stepmother as “just the worst case”.
He said: “This is about violence. It’s about abuse.
“It’s about making sure there are protective safeguards in place for children, especially those who are homeschooled.
“So I think that’s where the questions lie.”
His ministers are working on a tougher approach to home schooling, introducing an NHS-style identity number for children and strengthening council safety teams.
Lord Keir‘s spokesperson emphasized: “We are focused on doing everything within our limits current to stop this kind of terrible thing crime happens again.
“We need clear answers about how this happened.”
Sara’s father and stepmother Beinash Batool began homeschooling her to hide abusewhich her uncle, Faisal Malik, did nothing about.
The Prime Minister wants this to be banned if a child is under a protection order – but Sara was not at the time.
